About the Team
The West End team currently comprises of three partners, two associates, three surveyors and two trainees. The opportunity has arisen due to our expanding workload and an internal staff transfer. This is a friendly and inclusive team that operates well as a unit so will offer you support and assistance as required to help you build expertise and develop a career.
The team is currently dealing with some of London’s largest and most high profile cases.
Job Description
This role will work primarily in support of Malcolm Hull (one of the partners) working on a wide variety of disputes and negotiations. Work load will be varied but can be expected to primarily focus on rent reviews, lease renewals, and lease restructures, in most cases involving London offices buildings. Cases can be expected to go to arbitration or equivalent. Depending on experience, you can expect to have responsibility for handling negotiations with a view to this growing as experience justifies.
The most important point for us is to identify the right individual who will fit in well with our existing team and busy working environment. Therefore, if we find the right person that fits a more senior profile, there will still be an opportunity for them.
Main responsibilities
• To help develop our advice to clients and help to maintain regular contact with them.
• To prepare for and progress negotiations primarily in respect of rent reviews, lease renewals, and lease regears.
• To help prepare expert witness evidence for dispute resolution procedures.
• To use strong research and analytical skills to identify and interpret market rental evidence
• To build good relationships with external and internal agents to help in the obtaining of market information.
About you
Essential
• MRICS qualified
• Strong report writing skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Well organised, efficient, using initiative and working to tight deadlines.
• An eye for detail and an enquiring mind.
Preferred
• Lease consultancy experience ideal, but this is not critical provided you have a demonstrable desire for a career in this specialism
• Technical knowledge including relevant legislation and case law
• Valuation experience
• Commercially aware
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to work on own initiative whilst being an excellent team player
• Proven IT skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office.
• Full driving licence

Working hours
The normal hours of work for this position are 0900hrs to 1730hrs, Monday to Friday. This position also involves out of hours working on an ‘as necessary’ basis.
